Lead the Team That Keeps Everything Moving

We're looking for a highly organised and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to support the smooth and efficient running of a busy garden centre operation behind the scenes.

Working at the heart of the business, you'll lead the warehouse team, ensuring deliveries are processed efficiently, stock is managed effectively, and products are in the right place at the right time. Key Responsibilities

As Warehouse Team Leader, you will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the warehouse and goods-in operation
  • Lead, motivate, and organise the warehouse team to deliver exceptional standards
  • Ensure all deliveries are checked, recorded, and processed accurately
  • Maintain excellent stock control, storage, and stock rotation practices
  • Identify and resolve operational issues proactively
  • Support stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure efficient stock flow
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and safety
  • Keep warehouse and yard areas clean, compliant, and well maintained
  • Monitor equipment, fixtures, and warehouse facilities
  • Communicate stock shortages, delivery delays, and potential risks promptly
  • Support seasonal changes and peak trading periods
  • Monitor and report Health & Safety and security matters
  • Oversee the customer delivery process

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Conduct regular warehouse and storage area walkthroughs
  • Ensure deliveries are unloaded and processed efficiently
  • Facilitate timely replenishment of stock to the shop floor
  • Manage returns to suppliers and stock transfers
  • Complete and record equipment safety checks
  • Support team recruitment, training, and development
  • Assist with rotas, holiday requests, and payroll administration where required
  • Provide excellent customer service when needed
  • Work closely with the retail management team to support trading requirements
  • Act as a key holder and undertake Duty Manager responsibilities when required

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Previous warehouse, logistics, or goods-in experience with team leadership responsibility
  • Strong stock control and inventory management experience (essential)
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence using IT systems and warehouse processes
  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements
  • A proactive, hands-on, can-do approach
  • A forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
  • Availability to work alternate weekends

The Practical Details

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm, including alternate weekends

Location: Christchurch, Dorset,

Please note: This is a physically active role involving regular manual handling, lifting, and time spent working both indoors and outdoors.
