Transport Administrator
Location: Doncaster
Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour (PAYE)
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:00
Job Purpose
To provide efficient administrative support to the transport operation, ensuring accurate record keeping, effective communication, and timely processing of transport documentation. The role is essential in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the transport department and maintaining high levels of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general administrative duties to support the transport and logistics function.
- Manage and process Proofs of Delivery (PODs), ensuring documents are received, checked, filed, and accurately recorded.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls professionally, responding to customer, driver, and internal enquiries.
- Maintain organised filing systems, both electronic and paper-based, ensuring records are accurate and easily accessible.
- Provide general office support, including data entry, document preparation, photocopying, scanning, and distribution of information.
- Liaise with drivers, customers, and colleagues to ensure the timely flow of transport information.
- Support transport planners and managers with administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and data protection requirements when handling documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and transport-related records.
- Maintain a professional and positive approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within a transport, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and telephone manner.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
