We're currently recruiting experienced and reliable Sous Chefs to support a variety of school catering operations across Basingstoke and the surrounding areas.

Whether you're an established Sous Chef, a strong Junior Sous Chef looking to gain more experience, or an experienced chef seeking better work-life balance, we have ongoing temporary opportunities available within education catering.

With predominantly daytime hours, Monday to Friday schedules, and school-friendly environments, these roles offer an excellent alternative to traditional hospitality kitchens.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of school kitchens.
• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for students and staff.
• Assist with menu preparation, food production, and service delivery.
• Supervise and support kitchen assistants and junior team members.
• Ensure food safety, allergen management, and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Support stock control, deliveries, and waste management processes.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.
• Assist with school events, functions, and special catering requirements.
• Take responsibility for kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence when required.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or Senior Chef de Partie.
• Experience working within education, contract catering, or high-volume catering environments is beneficial.
• Passion for preparing fresh, high-quality food.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP, and allergen regulations.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new kitchen environments.
• A positive, hands-on approach and attention to detail.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate is essential (or willingness to obtain one).
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred.
