The Smelting Assistant Team Leader (ATL) supports the Smelting Team Leader (TL) and assumes responsibility for the Smelting process area in their absence. The ATL is accountable to the Smelting TL and plays a key role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations while supporting the team.

💷 £43,036.20 Basic Salary per annum

🎯 Annual Production Bonus - up to 10% of salary (following qualifying period)

Shift Rotation

✅ 2 x 12-hour Day Shifts (6:00am - 6:00pm)

✅ 2 x 12-hour Night Shifts (6:00pm - 6:00am)

✅ 4 Days Off

✅ Pattern repeats 7 times

✅ Followed by an impressive 18 consecutive days off

✅ Annual leave built into the shift pattern

✅ Two 45-minute breaks per shift

✅ Attendance at training on non-rostered days enables employees to bank up to 24 hours additional time off per year


🔧 What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

* Take responsibility for all operational activities within the designated Smelting area when required.

* Be accountable for team performance, behaviour and adherence to procedures within the area of responsibility.

* Coordinate team activities to maximise efficiency, productivity and operational performance.

* Ensure all operations are carried out in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.

* Support initiatives to maximise productivity and reduce downtime.

* Ensure workplace standards are maintained at all times, including full PPE compliance.

* Ensure operational tasks are completed safely and efficiently in line with priorities, schedules and approved procedures.

* Attend relevant meetings and contribute constructively to discussions and improvement actions.

* Mentor new starters and support training and development activities within the team.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

* Willingness to work towards a recognised leadership qualification.

* Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.

* Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused in challenging or conflicting situations.

* Demonstrable leadership qualities or experience in supporting others.

* Proactive approach with strong initiative and problem-solving skills.

* Basic IT competence.

* Numerate and literate, with the ability to complete records and reports accurately.

* Ability to motivate, support and influence team performance positively.

Desirable

* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience or qualification.

* Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
