Are you a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety and takes pride in keeping sites safe, secure and well-maintained?

We are recruiting for a Mobile School Caretaker to support a portfolio of school sites across Exeter. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to work across multiple locations ensuring buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant and operational.

Working across six school sites, you'll carry out planned maintenance, minor repairs, site inspections and security duties while providing excellent support to staff, pupils, visitors and contractors.

The Role

As a Mobile School Caretaker, you will be responsible for:

• Opening and securing school buildings and grounds.
• Conducting routine site inspections and patrols.
• Carrying out daily caretaking duties including litter picking, bin emptying and general site upkeep.
• Completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks.
• Undertaking minor maintenance, decorating and repair works.
• Investigating and responding to maintenance issues and reactive repairs.
• Assisting contractors and external service providers whilst on site.
• Responding to emergency maintenance situations.
• Supporting room set-ups, furniture moves and general porterage duties.
• Completing weekly and monthly checks of drains, gullies, plant rooms and shower facilities.
• Maintaining safe and compliant school environments.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, School Caretaker, Maintenance Operative, Facilities Assistant or similar.
• Good general DIY and maintenance skills.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical repairs.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• A proactive and practical approach to problem solving.
• Experience liaising with contractors and service providers.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position operating across a rotating shift pattern:

• Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Week 2: 10:00am - 6:00pm

Monday to Friday.
