Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Shift-Based)

Location: Matlock

Salary: £43,036 Basic Salary + £9,094 Shift Allowance

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview

We are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to work within a heavy manufacturing environment. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding, breakdown repairs, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will work on a wide range of industrial plant and equipment and will be responsible for supporting safe and efficient operations across the site.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Perform mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
  • Complete mechanical installations and modifications
  • Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and associated plant equipment
  • Follow permit-to-work and isolation procedures
  • Complete risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Record maintenance activities accurately
  • Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work safely in accordance with Health & Safety requirements

Essential Requirements

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, process, recycling, quarrying, foundry, steel, chemical or heavy engineering environment
  • Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Experience with mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs
  • Experience working on industrial plant equipment
  • Understanding of permit-to-work systems
  • Understanding of isolation and lock-off procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Shift Pattern

  • 2 x Day Shifts (6am to 6pm)
  • 2 x Night Shifts (6pm to 6am)
  • 4 Days Off
  • Rotating shift cycle
  • 18 consecutive days off built into the annual rotation
