Blue Arrow is urgently recruiting for A Lead Diagnostics & Electrical Systems Engineer to join our clients growing Automotive Manufacturing team based in the Llanelli area.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £45,000pa

Hours of work: Full time: Monday - Thursday 08.30-17.00/ Friday 09.00-15.00

Role Purpose: The Lead Diagnostics & Electrical Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the development, release and delivery of automotive diagnostic solutions, retailer diagnostic tooling and vehicle electrical systems engineering activities across premium automotive and electrified vehicle programmes. The role acts as the primary technical interface between customers, suppliers, business development teams and internal engineering functions, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed quality, timing and budget objectives. This is a hands-on technical leadership position combining engineering excellence, customer engagement, commercial support and team mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead automotive diagnostic development, validation, release and maintenance activities.

* Define diagnostic strategies and technical solutions for customer programmes.

* Lead design, development, production and support of retailer diagnostic tooling.

* Provide specialist expertise in vehicle electrical and electronic systems.

* Support EV and HV investigations, testing, validation and issue resolution.

* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

* Analyse vehicle, warranty and diagnostic data to identify improvement opportunities.

* Act as primary technical customer contact throughout programme lifecycle.

* Lead customer workshops, technical reviews and progress meetings.

* Manage project timing, cost, scope, risks and deliverables.

* Prepare and present technical reports to customers and senior stakeholders.

* Support quotation development, statements of work and technical proposals.

* Identify opportunities for new business and revenue growth.

* Mentor engineers and technicians and promote engineering best practice.

* Support resource planning and technical governance.

* Manage suppliers and external technical partners.

Essential Experience:

* 8-12+ years within automotive engineering

* Proven automotive diagnostics development experience

* OEM, retailer or Tier 1 experience

* Retailer/dealer diagnostic tooling experience

* Strong vehicle electrical systems knowledge

* Customer-facing technical leadership.

* Project delivery from concept through release.

* Supplier and stakeholder management.

* Quotation and solution development experience.

Essential Technical Knowledge:

* UDS, ODX, OTX and DoIP.

* CAN, CAN FD, LIN and Automotive Ethernet.

* Vehicle electrical and electronic architectures.

* Diagnostic development and release processes.

* Electrical fault finding and root cause analysis.

* Retailer diagnostic tooling and service environments.

* EV and electrified vehicle systems.

* Technical reporting and presentation skills.

Qualifications:

* Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.

* Full UK Driving License.

* Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally occasionally.

Preferred Experience:

* High Voltage qualification or authorisation (training can be provided).

* Premium automotive OEM experience.

* Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicle programmes.

* Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ETAS INCA or equivalent toolsets.

* Six Sigma, DMAIC or structured problem-solving methodologies.

* Practical vehicle testing and validation experience.
