We are recruiting for an experienced and motivated Lead Chef to oversee the kitchen at a welcoming healthcare site in Burnham-on-Sea, catering for approximately 42 residents.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident chef looking to take ownership of a kitchen while leading a small, supportive team. You'll play a key role in providing nutritious, home-cooked meals that make a real difference to residents' daily lives.

The Role

As Lead Chef, you will:

  • Prepare and deliver fresh, nutritious, high-quality meals for 42 residents
  • Lead and support a kitchen team consisting of 2 part-time Chefs and 2 Kitchen Assistants
  • Plan menus in line with dietary, nutritional, and allergen requirements
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and minimise food waste
  • Ensure high standards of food hygiene, food safety, and health & safety compliance
  • Organise kitchen operations to ensure smooth daily service
  • Support and develop team members while maintaining a positive working environment
  • Maintain excellent standards of food presentation and quality

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef, Lead Chef, Sous Chef, or Senior Chef
  • Experience within healthcare, care homes, or volume catering environments is desirable
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Good understanding of specialist diets, nutrition, and allergen management
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • A hands-on approach with a passion for delivering quality food
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to high standards
