General Operative

Location: Sudbury (DE6 5GX)

Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour

Contract Type: Ongoing Temporary with Permanent Opportunity

Working Hours:

• Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00
• Friday: 07:00 - 15:00

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a busy scaffolding warehouse in Sudbury. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily warehouse operations, ensuring scaffolding equipment is processed efficiently, maintained to a high standard, and prepared for customer deliveries and collections.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced environment and is looking for long-term employment with the potential of a permanent position.

Main Duties

• Load and unload scaffolding materials from vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Sort, store, and organise scaffold tubes, fittings, boards, and related equipment.
• Check returned stock for damage, defects, or wear and report any issues to management.
• Clean and maintain equipment to ensure it is ready for future use.
• Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for dispatch.
• Support routine stock counts and inventory control activities.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
• Work closely with warehouse colleagues, drivers, and other departments to meet operational requirements.
• Keep work areas tidy and assist with general housekeeping tasks across the warehouse.
• Carry out additional duties as required to support the business.

What We're Looking For

• Previous warehouse, yard, or construction experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Physically capable of carrying out manual handling duties and lifting heavy materials.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Own transport is essential due to the location of the site.
