Head Chef - Boscombe, Bournemouth | £16.50 per Hour | No Evenings!

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Chef to join a welcoming care facility in Boscombe, Bournemouth. You'll lead a small kitchen team, producing fresh, nutritious meals for residents while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, dietary compliance, and kitchen management.

This is an ideal role for a chef who enjoys creating meaningful dining experiences, values work-life balance, and wants to make a genuine difference every day.

  • Responsible for a well-established kitchen team including:
    • 1 Second Chef
    • 2 Kitchen Assistants

Week 1

  • Monday
  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday (Admin Day: 07:00-12:00)
  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Week 2

  • Tuesday (Admin Day: 07:00-12:00)
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday

Shift Times

  • Kitchen shifts: 07:00-17:00
  • Admin shifts: 07:00-12:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare fresh, nutritious meals tailored to residents' needs and preferences
  • Cater for a variety of dietary requirements and modified diets
  • Ensure compliance with food safety legislation and company procedures
  • Present meals in an attractive and appetising manner
  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
  • Manage kitchen budgets effectively
  • Lead, support, and develop the kitchen team
  • Maintain all kitchen records, audits, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure menus are communicated clearly and resident choices are recorded appropriately
  • Report health and safety concerns and equipment issues promptly

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef
  • Experience within care homes, healthcare, education, or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of nutritional requirements and specialist diets
  • Formal IDDSI training is essential
  • Experience managing kitchen budgets, stock control, and ordering
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Food Hygiene qualification
