General Operative

Location: Sudbury, Derbyshire (DE6 5GX)

Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour

Contract: Temporary Ongoing with Permanent Opportunities

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm

Friday: 7:00am - 3:00pm

The Opportunity

Blue Arrow is recruiting on behalf of a well-established scaffolding supplier in Sudbury for a hardworking General Operative. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy warehouse and yard operation, with long-term work available and the possibility of securing a permanent position for the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and can thrive in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, safety, and efficiency are key.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading scaffolding equipment from delivery vehicles.
• Organising and storing scaffold tubes, boards, fittings, and related materials.
• Checking returned equipment for damage, wear, or defects.
• Cleaning, repairing, and preparing equipment for future use.
• Using hand and power tools to carry out basic maintenance tasks.
• Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch.
• Assisting with stock checks and inventory management.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised warehouse and yard area.
• Following all health and safety procedures and wearing PPE as required.
• Supporting colleagues and assisting with additional warehouse duties when needed.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, construction, yard, or similar industrial environment.
• Confident using hand tools and power tools safely.
• Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling duties.
• Reliable, motivated, and willing to learn.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Own transport due to the location of the site.

Desirable

• Experience working with hand tools and powered tools.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
• Previous experience within an industrial, warehouse, or engineering environment.
