Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Shift-Based)

Overview

We are recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to work within a heavy manufacturing and process environment.

The role focuses on preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, electrical fault finding, breakdown repairs, equipment reliability, plant availability and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems, control systems and industrial plant equipment across a large manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and plant equipment.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and electrical breakdown repairs.
  • Perform electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Complete electrical installations, modifications and upgrades.
  • Maintain motors, drives, control panels, MCCs and power distribution equipment.
  • Carry out safe isolation and lock-off procedures.
  • Verify electrical isolation before maintenance activities.
  • Work on electrical control systems and automation equipment.
  • Complete risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Follow permit-to-work procedures and company safety standards.
  • Record maintenance activities using CMMS and maintenance systems.
  • Complete breakdown reports and maintenance documentation.
  • Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Report equipment defects and safety concerns promptly.
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety.
  • Support production operations by minimising downtime and improving plant reliability.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Completed Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience working within manufacturing, heavy industrial, process, recycling, foundry, steel, quarry, chemical or engineering environments.
  • Experience carrying out preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Experience carrying out reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working on industrial electrical systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe isolation procedures.
  • Understanding of permit-to-work systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Good IT skills and experience updating maintenance records.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

Candidates holding any of the following will be highly desirable:

  • 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • City & Guilds Electrical Installation.
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Maintenance.
  • HNC/HND Electrical Engineering.
  • ECS Card.
  • CompEx.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • IPAF.
  • Confined Space Training.

Shift Pattern

  • 2 x Day Shifts (6:00am to 6:00pm)
  • 2 x Night Shifts (6:00pm to 6:00am)
  • 4 Days Off
  • Rotating Shift Pattern
  • 18 Consecutive Days Off Built Into The Annual Rotation
  • Annual Leave Included Within Shift Cycle
