We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our client, Northern Ireland Policing Board, based in Belfast as a part time Data Protection and Information Manager.

Pay Rate: £24.59

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours: 9:00-5pm, 3 days per week

Duration: 6 months - possible extension

Job Duties:

The Compliance team provides advice and guidance to the organisation in respect of Freedom of Information (FOI); Data Protection (DP); and Records Management issues.

The Data Protection & Information Manager's is the lead, subject matter expert, responsible for ensuring the Board meets its statutory obligations and other duties within these areas.

The Data Protection & Information Manager will also be a member of the Board's Senior Leadership Team and will contribute to leadership of the Board, supporting other colleagues on key Board priorities that may not fall within the Compliance Team's direct responsibility.

The main duties and responsibilities of the post are:

· To undertake the Data Protection Officer (DPO) statutory role.

· To ensure that the Board meets its statutory obligations under the FOI, DP and Records management legislation.

· Day-to-day management of access to information requests and appeals (primarily under Freedom of Information (FOI) and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) / DPA 2018 legislation).

· To ensure the Board complies with its statutory obligations and other duties under the Public Records Act (NI) 1923 and the Disposal of Documents Order (NI) 1925.

· To maintain adequate records to demonstrate compliance with the Board's statutory obligations under the above pieces of legislation and promote high standards of corporate governance.

· To provide advice and guidance to officials at all levels within the organisation on compliance issues (FOI / DP and records management).

· To compile reports and creating statistics to inform Senior Management about the organisation's performance in respect of DP / FOI and records management issues.

· To build relationships with staff and act as the point of contact with key organisations external to the Board e.g. Department of Justice, the Information Commissioner's Office and the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland on DP / FOI and records management issues.

· To oversee Incident Reporting (on Physical, Personnel and Information) and data breach management, assessing escalated breaches reportable to ICO and following up with senior Information Asset Owners.

· To provide advice to business areas on draft privacy notices and data sharing agreements.

· To provide advice and guidance to business areas handling subject access requests and other 'rights' requests from data subjects.

· Administration of the electronic document and records management system, Content Manager (formerly 'TRIM' and 'HPRM').

· To produce or revising records management-related policies.

· To promote records management and data protection knowledge and awareness.

· To manage the Board's Retention and Disposal Schedule.

· Represent the Board on records management forums and working with them to implement the information management work portfolio.

· Management of branch budget and compliance with all reporting responsibilities in this regard.

· To lead and effectively manage the staff within Compliance Team as well as development of staff expertise across the range of data protection and information management matters dealt with by the branch.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working in the field

  • Recognised Data Protection Qualification

An Access NI will be required for this role
