We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join the catering team within a University of Oxford college. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a professional kitchen producing high-quality food for students, Fellows, staff, conference guests, and visitors, while supporting prestigious Formal Hall dinners, banquets, and college hospitality events.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Manage and maintain your designated kitchen section efficiently.
- Assist with the preparation of meals for college dining, Formal Hall events, conferences, receptions, and special functions.
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes for Formal Hall dinners, guest nights, and prestigious college events.
- Support the delivery of fine dining service to Fellows, academics, alumni, and distinguished guests.
- Ensure all food is produced in accordance with recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
- Ensure all food is presented to exceptional standards in line with formal dining expectations.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of banquets, receptions, conferences, and special functions.
- Work collaboratively with Front of House teams to ensure seamless service during Formal Hall and hospitality events.
- Maintain consistency, quality, and attention to detail during high-profile functions and college dining occasions.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, stock control, and stock rotation.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen management practices.
- Support senior chefs with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations.
- Assist with training and guiding junior members of the brigade when required.
- Contribute ideas for seasonal menus and special occasion dining experiences.
- Adapt to varying service styles, from student dining and conferences to formal banquets and high-end hospitality events.
- Ensure food wastage is minimised and kitchen resources are used effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or experienced Commis Chef within a professional kitchen.
- Experience within fine dining, hotel, events, restaurant, college, or high-volume hospitality environments would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of fresh food preparation and classical cookery techniques.
- Confidence working across a variety of service styles, including formal dining and banqueting.
- A good understanding of food hygiene, allergen legislation, and health & safety requirements.
- Food Hygiene Certificate preferred.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A positive attitude with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A passion for delivering exceptional food and customer service.
