We are recruiting HGV Class 2 Drivers for a leading bakery distribution operation based in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced and newly qualified Category C Drivers looking to build a long-term career with a well-established national business. The role involves delivering fresh bakery products across the South of England, with ongoing work, structured training and a genuine temp-to-perm opportunity available.
Role Overview
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for delivering fresh bakery products to retail stores, wholesalers and convenience outlets across the South of England. Working within a professional transport operation, you'll operate modern vehicles fitted with tail lifts and play a key role in ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
Shift Patterns
- Early start times between 01:00 and 03:30
- 25-week rolling rota
- Weekend working required as part of the rota
- Planned schedules provided in advance
- Ongoing, regular work available
- 13-week temp-to-perm opportunity

- £18.85 per hour PAYE

Responsibilities
- Operate a Class 2 vehicle fitted with a tail lift
- Deliver bakery products to retail stores, wholesalers and convenience outlets
- Provide excellent customer service at delivery locations
- Safely operate tail-lift equipment
- Undertake manual handling duties where required
- Ensure goods are loaded, secured and transported safely
- Use load restraint equipment including straps and load bars
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks using company systems
- Maintain communication with the transport team throughout the shift
- Comply with Driver Hours, Working Time Regulations and company procedures
- Participate in ongoing training and compliance updates
Requirements
- Valid UK Category C (Class 2) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC Card
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Good geographical knowledge and route planning ability
- Professional and reliable approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Newly qualified drivers are encouraged to apply
