Lead a Thriving School Catering Operation

Are you an experienced Chef looking for a rewarding role with an excellent work-life balance?

We are recruiting for a Chef Manager to oversee the catering operation at a busy education site in North Cornwall, serving approximately 560 meals per day.

Leading a team of 4 Catering Assistants, you will be responsible for delivering nutritious, high-quality meals while ensuring exceptional standards of food safety, service, and kitchen management.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your passion for food with the benefits of a term-time-only position, giving you evenings, weekends, and school holidays free.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Lead and manage the daily operation of the school kitchen

✅ Prepare and oversee the delivery of approximately 560 meals each day

✅ Manage, motivate, and develop a team of 4 Catering Assistants

✅ Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion control standards

✅ Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships

✅ Monitor food costs and work within budget requirements

✅ Ensure compliance with all food safety, HACCP, and health & safety procedures

✅ Complete kitchen administration and record-keeping requirements

✅ Build positive relationships with staff, students, and site stakeholders

What We're Looking For

✔ Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, or Sous Chef

✔ Strong leadership and people management skills

✔ Experience within education, contract catering, or high-volume catering environments

✔ Excellent organisational and communication abilities

✔ Sound knowledge of food safety legislation and stock management

✔ A genuine passion for providing nutritious and appealing meals
