Care Home Chef (Weekend Shifts)
Location: Newcastle, Gateshead and Morpeth
Hours: Between 7:00am and 6:00pm (Weekend Shifts)
Pay Rate: £18.00 - £20.00 per hour
Contract Type: Ad Hoc / Temporary
Are you an experienced Chef looking for flexible weekend work within care homes? We are recruiting Care Home Chefs to support kitchens across Middlesbrough, Darlington and Redcar with ad hoc weekend shifts and ongoing opportunities available.
About the Role
Working as part of a busy catering team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residents while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking meals in line with dietary requirements and care home menus
- Managing food preparation and portion control
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations
- Supporting and supervising kitchen assistants when required
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
- Assisting with stock control and ordering where necessary
- Catering for special dietary needs, allergies, and modified diets
What We're Looking For
- Previous Chef experience, ideally within a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or contract catering environment
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Experience catering for a variety of dietary requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and reliable approach to work
- Food Hygiene Certificate
