Locations: Uttoxter, Tamworth, Burton Upon Trent, Litchfield, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Staffordshire and surrounding areas

Pay: £17.00 per hour

Contract: full time ongoing Work Available

We are currently looking to recruit several Enhanced DBS Chefs and Cooks in and around Burton Upon Trent and Staffordshire, to support our clients working within Care homes, retirement villages, schools, colleges and nurseries. You will be required to help and support with any sickness, short term and long term, both full time and Part-time positions are available.

PLEASE NOTE: To be able to work within this environment you must have enhanced DBS covering adult, child or adult & child workforce, within the last 12 months or on the update service. If you don't have a DBS, you must be willing to go through all the required checks with us to be provided with one. (This will be at a cost)

Duties

  • Preparing, cooking and serving high-quality meals, snacks and desserts in line with planned menus and portion controls.
  • Catering for a range of dietary requirements, including allergens, vegetarian, vegan and medically prescribed diets.
  • Adapting meals to meet specialist dietary needs, including modified textures such as soft, minced and pureed foods in accordance with IDDSI guidelines.
  • Delivering nutritious, well presented meals that meet the standards expected within education, healthcare and care environments.
  • Supporting menu planning by contributing ideas for seasonal, cost-effective and balanced menus.
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health and safety, and food safety standards always.
  • Managing stock levels, stock rotation and waste control procedures.
  • Working independently or as part of a busy catering team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Providing consistently high standards of food quality and customer service.
  • Building positive relationships with residents, students, staff and customers, using feedback to continuously improve the catering offer.
  • Managing workload effectively and working under pressure to deliver large volumes of meals within set service times.
  • Demonstrating a caring, professional and patient approach when working in environments where food plays an important role in wellbeing.
  • Working collaboratively with kitchen assistants, catering teams, care staff and supervisory teams to deliver an excellent dining experience.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Chef, Cook or Sous Chef. minimum of 2 years, ideally within a Child or adult environment
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate dated within the last 3 years,
  • Food allergens certificate
  • Safeguarding and any additional education certificates preferred we can provide details too
  • Knowledge of IDDSI or qualifications - preferred we can provide details too
  • Reliable and professional approach
  • Chef whites and own Knives
  • Ability to cover ad hoc same day booking requests for our clients - which could lead to more ongoing work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Passionate about delivering quality food and service.

Working times and shifts:
As you can imagine being a chef does mean you are expected to work days, evenings and weekends However, the benefit for joining us at blue arrow means you can choose which days you want to work, and we can offer a mixture of shifts to suit all needs.

The Commute:
As we cover many locations across Uttoxter, Burton Upon Trent & The East Midlands, your commute will vary. If you have a car and are flexible with locations, great, if you're limited to public transport, we'll only send you to places that have public transport links and provide you with all the information you will need to get there.
