A healthcare facility in Lymington is looking for a dedicated and reliable Chef to join its catering team.

The role involves preparing fresh, nutritious, home-style meals for patients and staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are maintained at all times.

Working alongside a Kitchen Assistant, you will help deliver breakfast, lunch, and a light tea service in a friendly and rewarding healthcare environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef seeking a great work-life balance with a Monday to Friday schedule and no evening shifts.

The Role

As Chef, you will:

  • Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for patients and staff
  • Plan and deliver menus in line with dietary requirements
  • Work closely with the Kitchen Assistant to ensure smooth daily service
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance standards
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
  • Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation
  • Support a positive dining experience for residents, patients, and visitors
  • Carry out kitchen cleaning and compliance duties as required

Working Hours

  • Monday: 8:00am to 2:00pm (6 hours)
  • Tuesday: 9:00am to 5:00pm (7.5 hours)
  • Wednesday: 9:00am to 5:00pm (7.5 hours)
  • Thursday: 8:00am to 2:00pm (6 hours)
  • Friday: 8:00am to 2:00pm (6 hours)

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role
  • Experience working with fresh ingredients
  • Understanding of food safety, allergens, and health & safety legislation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • A caring and customer-focused approach
  • Experience within healthcare, education, or contract catering would be advantageous
