We are recruiting for a dedicated Chef to join our contract catering team in Newton Abbot. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a stable role with a regular working pattern, no late nights, and the chance to make a real difference by preparing fresh, nutritious meals in a caring environment.

Previous experience within a Care Home environment would be advantageous, however training can be provided for the right candidate.

An Enhanced DBS check is required and will be arranged and funded by the company

Key Information

  • Pay Rate: £14.91 per hour
  • Hours: 37 hours per week across 4 days
  • Regular Shift Pattern:
    • Sunday: 7:00am - 6:00pm
    • Monday: 7:00am - 6:00pm
    • Tuesday: 7:00am - 6:00pm
    • Wednesday: 7:00am - 1:00pm
  • All shifts include a 30-minute unpaid break
  • Permanent position
  • Based in Newton Abbot

While this is the regular shift pattern, flexibility will be required to support the business by covering colleague holidays and sickness when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals to the required standards
  • Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and allergen management practices
  • Supporting and developing kitchen colleagues where required
  • Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and safely at all times
  • Delivering a positive dining experience within a caring environment

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Chef role
  • NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent)
  • Care Home catering experience preferred, although full training can be provided
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Passion for fresh food and excellent customer service
  • Positive, reliable, and flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work effectively within a caring and supportive environment
