Blue Arrow is recruiting on behalf of a prestigious Oxford-based organisation for a Catering Assistant to join a busy and professional Catering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for hospitality and customer service to work within a high-quality catering environment. The successful candidate will support food preparation, service delivery and hospitality operations across a range of catering outlets, dining areas and event spaces.

The Role

As a Catering Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering a high standard of food and beverage service while ensuring excellent customer care, food hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained at all times.

You will work across a variety of service areas including cafés, bars, dining facilities and hospitality functions, supporting day-to-day catering operations and special events.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of food items within the café and catering outlets.
• Support food and beverage service across multiple dining and hospitality areas.
• Prepare meals and assist with counter service duties.
• Ensure food preparation and service areas are maintained to excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Use catering equipment and food products safely and correctly, adhering to all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
• Deliver professional, friendly and efficient customer service.
• Assist with hospitality functions, events and conference catering when required.
• Support service delivery within dining halls, bars and other food service areas.
• Help train and support casual team members where appropriate.
• Comply with all food hygiene, health and safety and operational procedures.
• Undertake training and development activities as required.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within catering, hospitality, food service or a customer-facing environment.
• Experience delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
• A positive, professional and friendly approach.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain high service standards in a busy environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and workplace safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual and well-presented.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods during service.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable

• Experience working within hospitality, conferencing, education, restaurants, cafés, bars or hotel environments.
• Food Hygiene qualification.
• Experience assisting with events and hospitality functions.
• Barista or bar service experience.
