Bar Supervisor
Location: Reading
Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour + £24.00 (weekends)
Contract: Temporary, ongoing assignment with potential to become permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Blue Arrow is currently recruiting for an experienced Bar Supervisor/Duty Manager to join a busy hospitality operation within a large University in Reading.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong bar-led hospitality professional looking for an immediate challenge with the potential to secure a permanent position. Initially expected to run for a minimum of one month, this role involves supervising a small team of approximately five staff members within a popular food and beverage outlet.
Hours of Work
- Wednesday to Sunday
- Predominantly 3:00pm to 11:00pm shifts
- 8-hour shifts
- Ongoing temporary role with potential for permanent employment
The Role
Working within the University's catering and hospitality operation, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the venue, ensuring excellent customer service and smooth bar operations.
You will lead by example, supporting and motivating a small team while maintaining high standards of service, compliance, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and supervising a team of around five staff members
- Overseeing daily bar and food service operations
- Providing training, guidance, and support to team members
- Ensuring excellent customer service standards are maintained
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting requirements
- Ensuring licensing, food safety, and health & safety procedures are followed
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues professionally
- Supporting opening, closing, and cash handling procedures
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Bar Supervisor, Duty Manager, Team Leader, or Hospitality Supervisor
- Strong knowledge of bar operations and customer service
- Confident leading and motivating a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and reliable approach to work
- Personal licence beneficial but not essential
