We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team, supporting the Financial Controller with the day-to-day running of the accounts function.

This is a varied role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across all aspects of transactional finance. You'll be a confident communicator who can build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Assist with supplier payment runs
  • Respond to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner

Sales Ledger

  • Raise customer invoices and credit notes
  • Send customer statements
  • Manage customer account queries
  • Upload invoices via customer portals and external systems
  • Support the timely collection of outstanding payments

Credit Control

  • Post daily receipts and allocate cash
  • Take card payments
  • Chase overdue debts and maintain customer accounts
  • Monitor aged debt and place accounts on hold where necessary

General Duties

  • Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers
  • Manage finance inboxes and incoming correspondence
  • Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc finance duties
  • Ensure all financial information is handled confidentially
  • Assist with administrative duties as required

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Administrator role
  • Experience of sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control activities
  • Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively
  • Positive and proactive approach to work
