We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen of our welcoming, food‑led country pub in Southampton.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands‑on chef who loves fresh, seasonal cooking and takes real pride in kitchen standards, hygiene, and consistency.
The Role
- Lead and inspire a small kitchen team
- Create and deliver high‑quality, seasonal menus with a strong focus on classic pub food done well
- Maintain exceptionally high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen compliance
- Manage ordering, stock control, GP margins, and waste
- Work closely with the front‑of‑house team and management to ensure smooth service
- Be fully involved in the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen - this is a working Head Chef role
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous ready to step up
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum)
- Allergen awareness qualified
- Strong focus on cleanliness, organisation, and food safety
- Passion for fresh ingredients and well‑executed pub classics
- Calm under pressure with good leadership and communication skills
- Reliable, motivated, and proud to run a kitchen to a high standard
