Temporary work is essential in today's job market. For employers, it provides the flexibility needed to meet seasonal or project-specific demands. For job seekers, temporary work offers valuable opportunities to gain new skills, a path to permanent employment and the flexibility to work around their commitments. Additionally, temporary employment plays a crucial role in strengthining the economy by reducing unemployment rates and helping businesses remain agile during economic fluctuations.

Meet Ikenna

Leaving a comfortable life in Nigeria behind, Ikenna moved to the UK to follow his dream of becoming a Hollywood screenwriter. To support his dream, and whilst he completes his Masters in screenwriting, Ikenna works through Blue Arrow as a cleaner at a London university. This provides him with the funds and flexibility he needs.

Transforming Futures Through Recruitment

16-19 Work Experience

Working with a local training company, we provided work experience opportunities for over forty 16–19 year-olds who took-up an apprenticeship or full-time work with a Blue Arrow client.

Employability Support

One of our consultants took the time to share skills development and employability support to disadvantaged and unemployed people through the charity Springboard. 18 of those candidates now work in the hospitality sector.

Upskilling Candidates

400 kitchen porters and luggage porters attend regular training sessions in branch for upskilling support for career progression into front of house roles. 75% of candidates have been placed in work.

Supporting People Experiencing Homelessness

We have supported 18 people who were experiencing homelessness into work in partnership with a local homeless charity, identifying jobs through relevant partners.

Achieving a Gold Standard

30 chefs were enrolled into a 12-week program to develop their skills for high-end restaurants in the capital. The chefs were assessed on-site by our clients. Those achieving a ‘gold standard’ rating from clients were offered a contract of employment with guaranteed hours of work.

Facilitating Specialist Training

We supported candidates to gain new skills through specialist industry training. Our trained consultant delivered Alcohol Serving Licence training to 150 candidates to support them gaining their certification and enable them to work within the hospitality industry in Scotland.

Changing Careers

Meet James, who wanted to change his career to follow his passion and become a chef. Blue Arrow quickly found James catering work allowing him to gain the experience he needed to change career. James is now doing a job he loves and working to become a Head Chef!

Childcare Commitments

Meet Susan, a working mum with childcare commitments. Blue Arrow helped Susan explore a range of flexible job opportunities that worked around her family life. Susan no longer struggles to prioritise work and family as she can now do both!

Supplement Income

Meet Nicola, who was struggling to pay the bills with the cost of living going up. Blue Arrow quickly found Nicola work on her doorstep, offering a good rate of pay, that has helped her to keep on top of things.

Side Hustle

Meet Ben, a young entrepreneur looking for a side hustle to run alongside his clothing business. Blue Arrow helped Ben quickly find suitable flexible work that met his needs. Ben knows he can always pick up extra hours and money when needed.

School Leavers

Meet Chris, a school leaver who didn’t know what to do for his long-term career. Blue Arrow found Chris lots of different jobs that matched his capabilities. Chris now has a better idea of what he wants to do for his long-term career.

Carer Responsibilities

Meet Yasmin, who is caring for her elderly parents and looking for work to fit around her carer commitments. Blue Arrow took the time to understand Yasmine’s requirements and found her suitable work. Yasmine is now able to juggle work with caring for her elderly parents.

Seasonal Employment

Supplementing your income means finding flexible work that fits around your schedule. Hannah was a student looking for temporary work during the summer. Through our range of opportunities, Hannah can find quick, part-time work whenever she needs it.

Retirees

Meet David, a retired bus driver who was missing the bustle of meeting people every day. Blue Arrow helped David to find regular hours that fit his lifestyle needs. David now enjoys regular flexible work where he can meet new people and make new friends along the way.
