Job Purpose

The Fleet Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring full legal and operational compliance across a large vehicle and trailer fleet.

The role leads fleet compliance activity, manages a small Maintenance Control Centre, and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to control Vehicle Off Road (VOR) levels, maintenance performance, and operating costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain full compliance of a large commercial vehicle and trailer fleet in line with legal, safety, and company standards
  • Lead and develop a Maintenance Control Centre team of two, ensuring effective day-to-day fleet support and decision-making
  • Monitor, control, and continuously improve Vehicle Off Road (VOR) levels, ensuring fleet availability targets are met
  • Control and optimise maintenance costs while maintaining compliance and safety standards
  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders (operations, finance, senior management) and external stakeholders (maintenance providers, regulatory bodies, suppliers)
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with commercial vehicle maintenance regimes, including inspections, servicing, and defect rectification
  • Maintain and oversee compliance with driver's hours regulations, including monitoring, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Ensure accurate recording and utilisation of fleet systems, particularly Axscend, for maintenance and compliance tracking
  • Support audits and inspections, ensuring documentation and processes meet regulatory requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in fleet compliance processes and controls

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience in a fleet compliance or maintenance compliance role, ideally within a large commercial vehicle environment
  • Strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance regimes and compliance standards
  • Solid knowledge of Driver's Hours & DVSA Operators licence Regulations
  • Current International CPC qualification
  • Experience using Axscend fleet maintenance/compliance systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage costs, prioritise workload, and make compliance-focused decisions
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing VOR reduction initiatives
  • Background working with large multi-site or high-utilisation fleets
  • Transport or fleet-related compliance qualifications
