Weekday Street Cleansing Operatives - Brighton (BN1)

£13.69 per hour | Monday - Friday | Immediate Start

We are currently recruiting for 3 Cleansing Operatives to join a busy environmental services team in Brighton (BN1). This is morning role, ideal for reliable candidates looking for well‑paid, outdoor work supporting local parks and public spaces.

Hours

• Monday - Friday
• 05:00 - 13:00

Contract

• Start date: ASAP
• Runs until end of June (approx.)
• Paid £13.69 per hour, possibility of overtime at weekends (£20.54)

Duties Include

• Working across multiple sites and locations
• Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting basic maintenance issues
• General cleansing duties across parks and public areas, including:
  • Litter picking
  • Bin changing
  • Sweeping and clearing hazardous items from playgrounds
  • Removing weeds, detritus, and fly‑tipping
• Following set routes, schedules, and instructions
• Safe and correct waste disposal in line with legislation and council procedures
• Wearing and maintaining PPE at all times
• Maintaining clear communication with supervisors and team members

Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good attention to detail and safety awareness
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Ability to walk 7-10 miles per day
• Work flexible hours across the 5 days
• Lift and carry some heavy and awkward shaped loads
• Interact with and assist members of the public
• Remain self-motivated to work hard
• Work outside in all weather conditions

Induction

• Must be able to attend a 3 day induction for training. This will be paid.
