<h2>Role: Caretaker / Site Maintenance Operative</h2>Location: ReadingContract: Temporary, ongoingHours: 2 days per week (any days Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm)Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour REQUIREDDBS: Enhanced Adult on update service Blue Arrow is recruiting for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join our client's dedicated team in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a well-maintained residential setting, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. <h3>The Role</h3>You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive maintenance and facilities support across the site, ensuring buildings, equipment, and grounds are kept in excellent condition. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is equally comfortable using tools as they are managing compliance checks and records. <h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks (plumbing, electrical, joinery, and basic building works)</li><li>Ensure the premises are safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times</li><li>Conduct and record routine health &amp; safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, fire equipment, etc.)</li><li>Maintain accurate maintenance logs and ensure follow-up actions are completed</li><li>Support external contractors on site, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards</li><li>Manage deliveries and provide occasional courier duties (mail, supplies, prescriptions)</li><li>Maintain outdoor areas including grounds upkeep, waste management, and seasonal duties (e.g., gritting, gardening)</li><li>Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues, including participation in an on-call rota if required</li><li>Uphold safe working practices and comply with all relevant policies (H&amp;S, COSHH, safeguarding)</li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><ul><li>Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role (preferred)</li><li>Strong practical skills across general maintenance and DIY</li><li>Good understanding of health &amp; safety and compliance requirements</li><li>Organised with the ability to manage tasks and record-keeping effectively</li><li>A positive, can-do attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills</li><li>Full driving licence (essential due to location and duties)</li></ul><h3>What's on Offer</h3><ul><li>Flexible part-time hours (2 days per week)</li><li>Supportive and inclusive team environment</li><li>Ongoing training and development opportunities</li><li>A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference</li></ul>Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
