Warehouse Shift Manager

Location: Gotham, Nottinghamshire (NG11)

Shift Pattern: Shift-based role (days/nights as required)

Salary: £38,000

Reporting to: Site Manager

We are recruiting an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to lead a busy Distribution Centre operation based at our Gotham (NG11) site. This is a hands‑on leadership role, responsible for managing people, processes, performance and safety across an operational shift.

You will play a critical role in driving efficiency, stock accuracy, colleague engagement and compliance in a fast‑paced logistics environment.


Key Responsibilities

As Warehouse Shift Manager, you will:

  • Lead and motivate a team of Warehouse Supervisors and Operatives across all areas of the Distribution Centre
  • Take full accountability for shift performance, ensuring all contracted KPIs are achieved
  • Drive Stock Record Accuracy (SRA) through audits, accuracy checks, reporting and corrective actions
  • Manage labour resources effectively, including permanent and temporary labour, forecasts, budgets and productivity
  • Own and maintain operational documentation including SOPs, SSOW, training plans and returns processes
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety and site controls, protecting colleagues, equipment and facilities
  • Manage professional incident response and escalation across site operations
  • Own and maintain fire evacuation and safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively with the site Transport operation to ensure effective warehouse-to-dispatch execution
  • Support operational failure recovery across people, processes and communications
  • Control contractor activity on site as required

People Management & Leadership

You will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all colleagues are fully trained and skilled to meet customer requirements, with a strong focus on wellbeing
  • Managing all people processes including:
    • Attendance and sickness (ASH) management and reporting
    • Return-to-work meetings
    • Performance improvement and colleague development plans
    • Investigations and disciplinary processes
  • Driving colleague engagement and improving engagement scores year-on-year
  • Delivering regular shift briefings and departmental briefings
  • Attending management meetings as part of the site leadership team

Financial & Operational Control

  • Manage daily, weekly and monthly operational expenditure
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and swift resolution of any exceptions
  • Support workforce capacity planning and lead regular performance reviews
  • Review and maintain Business Continuity Plans
  • Support and deliver warehouse change control initiatives, driving benefit for both the customer and the business
