Overview

Blue Arrow Recruitment is recruiting experienced School Chefs for temporary positions across a number of schools in Burnley and the local area. This role is ideal for chefs looking for flexible, daytime-only work within education catering, covering sickness, holidays, and short‑term requirements.

Assignments may vary between primary and secondary schools depending on availability and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals in line with school menus
• Managing food preparation for lunch service
• Ensuring all meals meet food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety standards
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
• Managing stock, deliveries, and basic ordering where required
• Working independently or supervising kitchen assistants depending on site
• Following school policies and safeguarding procedures

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally within schools or large‑scale catering
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
• Strong knowledge of allergen awareness and dietary requirements
• Ability to work independently in different school environments
• Reliable, flexible, and adaptable approach to work
• Enhanced DBS certificate
