Refuse drivers - Class 2 - Lochaber

Blue Arrow are recruiting for refuse collection drivers in Lochaber

You will collect household or commercial waste and recycling, adhering to strict safety and traffic regulations and lead a team of loaders, perform daily vehicle checks, manage collection schedules, and drive to disposal sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving & Safety: Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle through residential or commercial streets.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections (checks for oil, tyres, lights) and report defects.
• Collection Operations: Supervise the loading crew, ensuring efficient, safe collection of bins, and manage on-board computer systems (e.g., Bartec) for routes.
• Waste Disposal: Drive to landfills or recycling facilities to unload waste.
• Compliance & Records: Adhere to Working Time Directive (WTD), driver hours rules, and complete daily logs.
• Customer Service: Act as a front-line service representative, maintaining professional communication with the public.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Licence: Valid Class 2 HGV (Category C) driving licence.
• Certifications: Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and Digi-Tachograph card.
• Experience: Previous HGV driving experience, preferably in waste management.
• Skills: Strong maneuvering skills, team leadership, and understanding of health and safety regulations
