Nursery Cook - Permanent Position

Penrith | £29,743 per annum | Monday-Friday, No Weekends - Must pass Enhanced child DBS check.

Blue Arrow are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and vibrant nursery in Penrith, who are looking to appoint a passionate Nursery Cook on a permanent basis.

The Role

As Nursery Cook, you'll be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals that support the health, wellbeing and development of young children. You'll play a vital role in the nursery day, ensuring every child enjoys balanced, home‑cooked food in a safe and caring environment.

Working hours:

35 hours per week

8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

No weekends. No bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children
  • Designing varied menus that meet dietary, allergy and cultural requirements
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
  • Managing food stock, ordering supplies and minimising waste
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and fully compliant with regulations
  • Working collaboratively with nursery staff to support children's wellbeing

About You

  • Previous experience as a cook or chef (nursery, school, care or hospitality background welcome)
  • A genuine interest in children's nutrition and healthy eating
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and dietary requirements
  • A positive, reliable and hands-on approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own kitchen
  • Must hold or be willing to go through an enhanced child DBS check
