Appliance Delivery & Installation Operative

Start date: ASAP - until 30/08/2026 (likely to be extended / ongoing)

Hours: Full-time, 8 hours per day

Working pattern: 5 days per week

Pay rate: £13.40 per hour

Clearance: Basic DBS required (must also be eligible for Security Clearance)

The Role

We are recruiting an Appliance Delivery and Installation Operative to join the Facilities Management Service team. This role is responsible for the safe, timely delivery, installation, and collection of household furniture and appliances to residential properties across the UK, alongside supporting warehouse operations.

You will work as part of a two-person delivery team, handling bulky and heavy items such as fridges, washing machines, and furniture, ensuring excellent customer service at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload vehicles, ensuring correct weight distribution and no damage to items or vehicles
  • Check all items against delivery manifests to confirm accuracy and completeness
  • Deliver furniture into customers' homes and position items as requested, taking care to avoid property damage
  • Install, test, and demonstrate white goods, ensuring appliances are safe, functional, and leak-free
  • Carry out warehouse duties including cleaning and testing appliances, stock checks, inventory control, and general housekeeping
  • Assist with unloading, assembling, and storing new or reusable stock from other agencies
  • Ensure all furniture and appliances meet required cleanliness standards
  • Support the cleaning and upkeep of lease vehicles in line with company standards
  • Assist the FMS Supervisor with scheduling workloads to meet delivery commitments when required
  • Help arrange deliveries and collections to meet customer needs while achieving best value
  • Maintain excellent interpersonal skills, supporting customers during potentially stressful house moves
  • Safeguard all customer- and company-owned tools, equipment, furniture, and appliances
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the FMS Supervisor or Site Manager

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience within removals, delivery, or a similar role
  • Full UK driving licence (Category B) - required for driving 3.5-tonne vans
  • 3.5T van driving experience preferred but not essential
  • Physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting as part of a two-person team
  • Willingness and ability to commit to a long-term role
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) to work on a secure site
