Accounts Receivable Officer (AO)
Location: Newforge
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm)
Contract: Temporary agency assignment
Start Date: Immediate
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a public sector organisation for an Accounts Receivable Officer (AO) to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrative or finance professional seeking a long-term temporary role within a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Formatting and preparing data for import into a finance accounting system to generate batch invoices
- Creating manual invoices and credit notes on customer accounts
- Carrying out credit control activities, including issuing statements and providing copy invoices on request
- Taking credit and debit card payments over the telephone
- Responding to customer and supplier queries via telephone and email
- Processing supplier invoices through the purchasing order system
- Reviewing and posting staff expense claims
- Maintaining work trackers and query logs using internal systems
Essential Criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate all of the following:
- At least two GCSEs (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Previous experience in an administrative support role, ideally involving internal or external customer service
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working in a finance or accounts environment
- Familiarity with accounting or purchasing systems
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
