Where do you currently work and what do you do?
I work for Capita Primary Care as an administrator.
When did you start working there?
In October 2017
Tell me about a typical day at work
We are really processing information for the healthcare system. Things like, transfers of patients between practices, issuing NHS numbers, finding errors in records, making amendments and removing patient details at Doctors requests.
What was your application process like?
I sent my CV to Blue Arrow, they organised an interview and I got offered the job straight after.
What were you most nervous about before you started?
I was apprehensive about doing the work, I was experienced but everywhere is slightly different. I was nervous about the people I would be working with, just generally not knowing what to expect I suppose.
Did you receive any training before you started?
I received lots of on-the-job training. I was already quite experienced, so I was able to get started and learn as I went.
Are you aware of any career progression or self development options?
No not really, there are some jobs available, but I am happy as I am right now as they are temporary positions too. I like being temp because I get weekly pay.
What do you like most about your job?
I like inputting data, making sure it is right. I like to keep busy and this job definitely keeps me occupied.
What do you dislike most about your job?
When I have to move between areas to help out with other workloads because I end up behind on my work and I like to be on top of things.
What would you change if you could?
It might be nice to get a bonus for hard work or some king of incentive would be good.
What is your work environment like?
There are lots of people, it can be noisy, but I like it that way, it means we are all busy getting on with our work, it is more motivating then silence.
What are your fellow team members like?
We sit in rows of twos so we only really speak to those nearby during work, but everyone is really nice.
Do you receive on the job support from management?
If I need help then I do, someone is always nearby to help out if we need it. We all support each other with our workloads as well so if one of us has less to do we will take on some of someone else’s work to get it done.
What are your long-term goals?
I am happy as I am right now but eventually it would be nice to be taken on permanently.
How do you hope to achieve these goals?
I will just keep doing the best I can and keeping on top of the workload, when the opportunity comes up I will go for it and see what happens.
Would you recommend your job to a friend?
Yes I would. I would make sure to explain the hours and the training that is available and I would advise them to stay ahead of the work load.
