About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Sous Chef to join our dynamic hotel kitchen team in Rugby. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional dining experiences across our restaurant, bar, and event spaces. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented chef ready to step up or an existing Senior Sous Chef looking for a fresh challenge in a supportive and high‑quality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service across all food outlets.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor the kitchen team, promoting a positive and professional working culture.
- Assist in designing seasonal menus, contributing creative ideas and ensuring dishes meet brand and guest expectations.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Oversee ordering, stock rotation, waste management, and supplier relationships to ensure cost‑effective operations.
- Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene standards are met and maintained, including compliance with HACCP and hotel policies.
- Take charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless continuity of service.
- Support training and development of junior chefs to help grow their skills and confidence.
About You
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a hotel, premium dining, or high‑volume environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
- A passion for fresh, high‑quality food and a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of current food trends and a desire to innovate.
- Understanding of kitchen financials-including GP margins, wastage, and labour control.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and across different service periods.
