Sewing Machinist

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:00-16:00

Friday- 07:00-13:00

We are currently recruiting an experienced Sewing Machinist to join a busy production team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong cutting and sewing skills who takes pride in quality and smooth workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cutting and sewing furniture covers and components to specification using industrial sewing machines and cutting tools/templates
• Planning and sequencing cutting work to ensure correct patterns and templates are used
• Minimising material waste while maintaining production targets
• Taking ownership of quality by inspecting work from cutting through to final sewing
• Identifying and addressing quality issues early to maintain consistent standards
• Coordinating the workflow between cutting and sewing to ensure smooth production
• Flagging bottlenecks, shortages, or issues and communicating requirements to production/operations teams

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience as a sewing machinist in furniture manufacturing
• Confident using sewing machines, cutting tools, and templates
• Strong attention to detail and quality focused mindset
• Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
