Chef Manager - Education Sector

Location: Stockbridge

Salary: £16 per hour

Annual Equivalent: £25,552

Contract: Term-Time Only (38 Weeks)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead our school catering operation in Stockbridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate food professional who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys making a positive impact on young people's daily experience.

As Chef Manager, you will oversee the preparation and service of fresh, nutritious meals for 250-280 pupils each day, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the school kitchen team (1 Chef Manager, 2 Catering Assistants).
  • Oversee the delivery of a full lunchtime service plus morning/afternoon break (MMB + Lunch).
  • Plan, prepare, and cook meals in line with school nutritional guidelines.
  • Manage stock ordering, menu planning, and cost controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, allergen, and safety regulations.
  • Provide a welcoming, positive dining experience for pupils and staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, efficient kitchen environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or similar role - ideally within education or contract catering.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a small team.
  • Confidence managing budgets, stock, and food safety standards.
  • A passion for fresh, wholesome cooking for children.
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent organisation, time management, and communication skills.
