* Salary: £13.47ph
* Location: Middlefields Depot, NE34
* Hours: Monday - Sunday 8am - 4pm (37hs a week)
* Till September 2026
You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality customer focused area management service within the Borough. You will:
* Undertake neighbourhood street cleaning services and assist with the delivery of seasonal services, working collaboratively with partners as required.
* Support the delivery of market services where applicable, this may include the set-up and dismantling of stalls and general cleansing activities.
* Undertake the safe collection and disposal of any hypodermic needles, clinical waste and/or animal carcasses, and support the removal of abandoned waste and fly tipping waste.
* Participate in area quality monitoring including, but not limited to, reporting defects and other environmental issues.
* Ensure that all tools, equipment and materials issued are maintained to a high standard and are used safely, in-line with relevant guidance and training.
* Complete all relevant documentation and records associated with the post.
* Support enforcement action for any service-related activity by reporting incidents and providing supporting evidence where necessary to assist investigations.
3. General - You will play an active role in providing excellent area management services throughout the Borough. In addition to specific aspects of delivery above, you will:
* Carry out flexible working as this is required as part of this role, the service operates 7 days per week with shift patterns in place to enable the service to operate from early in the morning to late afternoon.
* Work as part of the Streetscene team helping and supporting all colleagues in the delivery of excellent services.
* Communicate effectively, making line managers and other colleagues aware of any issues, to assist in enabling a safe, co-ordinated approach, across the service.
* Develop professional relationships and share good practice with colleagues, managers and elected Members to aid communication and consistency.
* Carry out all work to the highest professional standards and in accordance with the Council's policies and procedures in order to provide an excellent standard of service to residents, supporting the Council to meet its objectives.
* Contribute towards the corporate strategies and priorities of the Council.
* Act always as a representative of the Council, promoting positive engagement with residents and maintaining good relationships with elected members, other stakeholders, and partners.
* Develop professional relationships, and share good practice, with other departments and colleagues, to aid consistency and engender cooperation across services.
