Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, between 7:00am and 4:30pm
Pay: £13.90 per hour (Weekly Pay)
About the Role:
Blue Arrow are currently recruiting Waste Operatives to support recycling centre operations in Arbroath. This is a hands-on, active role ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, engaging with the public, and contributing to a cleaner, safer environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support public access and usage of recycling centres, working independently or as part of a team.
* Regularly handle heavy and bulky items, equipment, and bins, including pushing, pulling, carrying, and walking across the site.
* Monitor and control public access to prevent contamination, theft, vandalism, and unsafe behaviour.
* Direct members of the public to the correct skips, bins, and waste-oil receptacles.
* Assist service users with unloading and safely disposing of bulky materials.
* Maintain positive relationships with the public by being polite, respectful, and upholding council values.
* Carry out keyholder and site security duties when required.
*Record quantities and weights of collected materials and complete required documentation.
* Keep the site, office, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
* Report fly-tipping, damage, theft, vandalism, or equipment issues to the supervisor.
*Follow all Health & Safety legislation, Codes of Practice, and local authority procedures.
* Ensure compliance with data protection laws when handling personal information.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Basic understanding of road safety and traffic control.
*Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work requirements.
*Experience with manual handling.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
*Good customer service skills.
*Basic numeracy skills.
