We are looking for a Transport Planner for our Transport Clients Depot based in Portbury in Bristol. For this role you will need a car or motorbike due to the location. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract.

Days of Work: Monday to Friday

Hours of Work: The role operates on a rotating shift pattern: one week of early shifts (04:30-12:30) followed by one week of late shifts (12:00-20:00) - However for the first couple of weeks you will be on the 12.00-20.00 shift

Job Description: e are currently seeking a Transport Planner in our clients Portbury depot. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspect of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan outbound routes to maximise vehicle and driver utilisation while controlling costs.
  • Use operational resources efficiently and schedule HUK work in the correct order
  • Monitor all inbound/outbound loads to ensure on‑time delivery with accurate updates.
  • Ensure all contracted work is covered and clearly communicated to drivers and subcontractors.
  • Manage dispatch, driver communication and debriefs, ensuring paperwork is completed correctly.
  • Work closely with customers, coordinating delivery/collection times and supporting smooth operations.
  • Provide updates to the Operations/Transport Manager and maintain professional communication with all stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with drivers and customers, resolving issues appropriately.
  • Support breakdowns/callouts, ensure vehicle presentation, and uphold driver professionalism.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal, company, customer and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Monitor Health & Safety, report incidents, assist with compliance planning, and complete weekly workplace inspections.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a similar role (1 Year Minimum)
  • You will need a car or motorbike due to the location
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Solution driven and Flexible approach to your work.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to use Computer systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
