Toilet Cleansing Operative (Driver)

Location: Brighton, BN3

Contract: On‑going Temporary

Pay: £13.90-£18.38 per hour (PAYE)

Hours: 08:00-20:30, 4 days on / 4 days off

We are seeking a reliable and hands‑on Toilet Cleansing Operative (Driver) to support the cleaning and maintenance of public toilet facilities across Brighton. This role is essential in helping maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of key city locations.


What You'll Be Doing

Driving & Site Servicing

  • Safely drive a council vehicle between public toilet sites across Brighton.
  • Deliver cleaning stock and supplies to sites as required.
  • Carry out daily vehicle safety checks (oil, water, tyres, lights, etc.).
  • Complete electronic and paper defect logs accurately.
  • Ensure the vehicle is cleaned, emptied, fuelled/charged, and ready each day.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean public toilet facilities to a high standard, including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, and removing waste and needles.
  • Open and close sites at scheduled times.
  • Use cleaning tools and machinery in line with safety guidance.
  • Dispose of waste safely and correctly in accordance with regulations.

Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain contact with the Operations Manager throughout your shift via radio or phone.
  • Report incidents such as accidents or anti‑social behaviour before the end of your shift.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and present a professional image at all times.

What You'll Need

  • A clean, valid UK driving licence (essential).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to manage interactions with the public.
  • Physical fitness - able to lift heavy items and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience delivering high‑quality service in a customer‑focused environment.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety (training provided).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends.
