A welcoming, traditional pub near Fordingbridge is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead its kitchen team. Serving classic, freshly prepared dishes, this role offers excellent autonomy, creativity with menu development, and the chance to work with quality local produce.

The ideal candidate will be a car driver due to the rural location and the off site accommodation.

• Salary: £37,000 - £44,000 per annum
• Location: Fordingbridge
• Hours: 5 days out of 7

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Head Chef

• Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring smooth service and high standards.
• Take full ownership of menu planning, dish development, and seasonal specials.
• Maintain excellent food preparation, presentation, and portion control.
• Oversee stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships within budget.
• Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations are fully adhered to.
• Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff.
• Uphold consistent quality across all services and ensure enthusiastic team morale.

What You Need to Succeed as Head Chef

• Previous experience as a Head Chef or a strong Sous Chef ready to step up.
• NVQ / City & Guilds Professional Cookery qualifications preferred.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene (minimum).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organised, and efficient in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• A car driver due to rural location.
