Loading Shovel Driver - Newport

Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour

Hours: 07:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

Location: Newport

Uniform: Safety boots & high‑vis required

About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced Loading Shovel Driver to support a busy production and logistics environment in Newport. This is a hands‑on role responsible for maintaining material flow, feeding production processes, and assisting with daily site operations.

Previous loading shovel experience is mandatory, in line with employer obligations to ensure operators are trained and competent under PUWER regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the loading shovel safely to move raw materials, bulk products, and waste around the site.
• Feed hoppers for the bagging and production plant.
• Support yard and logistics operations, including loading/unloading vehicles and managing stock areas.
• Complete daily machinery checks and basic maintenance to maintain safe operation.
• Assist with general housekeeping, cleaning, and equipment tidying.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
• Communicate effectively with production teams to maintain steady material flow.

Requirements

Mandatory:

• Previous experience operating a loading shovel in an industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, waste, or aggregates environment.
• Ability to operate mobile plant safely and follow site safety rules in line with competence expectations under recognised schemes such as CPCS/NPORS.

Desirable:

• Valid NPORS or CPCS Loading Shovel ticket.
• Forklift licence.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting.
• Good physical fitness due to manual handling requirements.

Additional Information

• Induction: Full health & safety briefing and site risk assessment carried out on day one.
• PPE: Safety boots and high‑vis must be worn at all times.
• Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 17:00.
• Pay: £12.21 per hour.
