Sous Chef → Head Chef Progression Opportunity

£40,000 per annum + approx. £300 tips/month

Salisbury (Own Transport Required)

45 hours per week | Straight Shifts | Predominantly Evenings Off

Are you a Sous Chef who's ready to step up - but wants the right guidance and support to do it properly?

This rare opportunity offers structured development into a Head Chef role, working closely under an Executive Chef over the busy summer season before taking full day‑to‑day operational responsibility as the venue heads into its quieter period.

Perfect for a chef who wants to grow into leadership, not someone already set on running their own standalone kitchen from day one.

What's in it for you

  • £40,000 salary
  • Approx. £300 tips per month
  • 45 hours per week, 5 days out of 7
  • Straight daytime shifts: Wednesday-Sunday, 7:45am-4:30pm
  • Predominantly all evenings off
    • Flexibility required for occasional evening wedding functions
  • Beautiful rural venue near Salisbury - own transport essential
  • Join a tight-knit brigade of 3 chefs, rising to 20 weddings over the summer
  • 75-cover service, seasonal menu, high standards without burnout

The Role

You'll step in as Sous Chef, supporting the Executive Chef across:

  • Daily service
  • Prep and menu execution
  • Wedding/event catering
  • Kitchen management essentials

Over the summer, you'll work side by side with the Exec Chef, gaining:

  • Leadership confidence
  • Ordering, costing and stock control skills
  • Operational kitchen management experience

Once the wedding season winds down, you'll take the reins day to day - fully supported as you transition into the Head Chef role.

Who This Suits

  • A skilled Sous Chef ready for the next step
  • Someone eager to learn, grow and take ownership, not someone wanting an instant Head Chef title
  • A calm, organised chef who thrives in a structured environment
  • A team player who values work-life balance
  • Someone reliable with access to their own transport

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a genuinely nurturing pathway to becoming a Head Chef, with:

  • All the development and support you need
  • No late-night restaurant grind
  • Consistent daytime hours
  • A fantastic events-led environment
  • Clear responsibility and progression timeline
