Pay: £34,000
Working Hours: 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Contract: 44-week term-time or 52-week full-year options

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Evening Chef to join the catering team at a prestigious independent school in Oxfordshire. In this role, you'll work alongside the Head Chef to deliver nutritious, well-balanced meals for pupils and staff during the afternoon and evening service. You'll play a key part in maintaining excellent culinary standards, food safety, and smooth kitchen operations.

Main Duties

• Prepare and serve high‑quality evening meals for students and staff.
• Assist the Head Chef with menu development and daily kitchen tasks.
• Lead and support the kitchen team during evening service.
• Uphold strict food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety procedures.
• Monitor stock levels and help with ordering supplies.
• Provide catering for special diets and school functions as required.

What We're Looking For

• Experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, ideally within education, hospitality, or contract catering.
• A passion for fresh, wholesome cooking and balanced menus.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Solid understanding of food safety and allergen management.
• Confidence working independently during evening shifts.
• Dependable, adaptable, and committed to high standards.

Contract Options

• 44 weeks (term‑time): Perfect for those who prefer school holiday breaks.
• 52 weeks (full year): Ideal for candidates seeking consistent, year‑round work.
