Payroll Business Partner

Location: Warrington

Pay Rate: £14.21 per hour

Start Date: Immediate

End Date: 30 April 2026

Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Payroll Business Partner to join our Employee Services team on a temporary basis. In this role, you will support the delivery of an accurate, efficient, and customer‑focused payroll and transactional HR service for employees and third parties.

You will play a key part in ensuring that payroll processes are compliant, timely, and delivered to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience and a commitment to exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support and deliver a range of employee transactional processes.
  • Validate timesheet, absence and annual leave information in line with policies and conditions of service.
  • Ensure payroll and HR transactions are completed accurately, on time, and in line with documented procedures.
  • Provide expert advice relating to HMRC, PAYE, Tax, NI, SSP and SMP.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employees, managers, external bodies (including HMRC and pension funds), HR colleagues and third‑party payrolls.
  • Produce written statements of particulars and contract variation letters in line with employment legislation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities.
  • Support the training of new and junior colleagues.
  • Respond promptly to queries and maintain a strong customer‑focused approach.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience working within a payroll or transactional processing environment.
  • Strong understanding of PAYE/HMRC regulations and employment‑related calculations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, numerical and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with confidential information.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • IT proficiency including spreadsheets and word‑processing tools.
  • A collaborative approach with confidence and determination.

Desirable

  • Experience with pension scheme administration.
  • Knowledge of auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Use of payroll software systems.
  • CIPP qualification or equivalent.
