Motor Vehicle Technician
Salary: £35,019 - £41,380 + 21% unsocial hours payment
Location: Newcastle
Hours: 37.5hrs average, 4‑on / 4‑off, 12‑hour shifts
Type of contract: Fixed term contract, minimum 6 months, potential extension
We're recruiting for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to join a busy workshop team on a fixed-term basis, supporting the maintenance of our essential emergency service fleet.
What you'll do
- Carry out high‑quality servicing, inspections and repairs on vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (majority up to 5.5t).
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic faults.
- Complete planned and unplanned maintenance to keep our fleet operational and safe.
- Road test vehicles as required.
- Use our computerised fleet management system to record work accurately.
- Liaise professionally with managers, crews, suppliers and contractors.
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace and uphold NEASUS standards.
- Provide occasional cover for the Team Leader when needed.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience working on LGVs/light HGVs
- Excellent diagnostic skills
- Confident using fleet or workshop systems
- Professional communication and teamwork
- Commitment to safe, high‑quality, value‑for‑money repairs
- Ability to keep up with industry technology and standards
Working pattern
- 4 days on / 4 days off
- 12‑hour shifts: 06:00-18:00 or 12:00-00:00
