Agency Chef (DBS Required)
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and adaptable Agency Chef with an enhanced DBS certificate to join our team. This role involves working across a variety of sites including care homes, schools, hospitals, corporate catering, and hospitality venues providing high‑quality food preparation and maintaining excellent kitchen standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard across diverse menus and dietary requirements
- Work confidently in different kitchen environments, often with minimal supervision
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and allergen control procedures
- Support kitchen teams during busy periods, staff shortages, or special events
- Follow site‑specific policies, including safeguarding and health & safety protocols
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with nutritional guidelines, especially in care or education settings
- Manage stock rotation, labelling, and waste reduction
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, management, and front‑of‑house teams
- Uphold professionalism and represent the agency positively at all times
Requirements
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (mandatory)
- Proven experience as a Chef (CDP/Sous/Head Chef level depending on assignment)
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards (Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene preferred)
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and menus
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Flexibility to work across multiple locations and shift patterns
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards
Desirable Skills
- Experience in care, education, healthcare, or contract catering
- Allergen awareness training
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
