About the Role

As the Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, producing quality meals for students, staff and visitors. Working closely with Catering Assistants and the Catering Manager, you will ensure that high standards of food safety, hygiene and service are met at all times.

You will help maintain the school's 5* Environmental Health rating by following all food safety, health & safety and hygiene procedures. This role is part of the wider Operations Team, which includes Catering, Cleaning and Maintenance. This role will involve working on a full-time basis (40hrs per week) covering weekdays and weekends on a rotating shift pattern

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce high‑volume meals to a consistently high standard
• Deliver varied and balanced menus that meet Government and boarding school food standards
• Follow HACCP, COSHH, Level 2 Hygiene and SFBB procedures
• Develop new recipe ideas and support themed and cultural food events
• Supervise catering staff during evening and weekend service
• Maintain excellent standards of Health & Safety within the kitchen
• Use online systems to record staff sickness and holiday
• Keep SFBB documentation up to date
• Support induction and training for new catering staff
• Record incidents, accidents and complaints appropriately and escalate urgent issues
• Work closely with the Head of Operations and catering colleagues to design new menus
